Pre-Race Recon: #805 4-L Ranch – Jacksboro, Texas

Overview

Tim Lambert – Promoter

As with all the other properties in this area, there has not been any moisture in a while so it is dry. The course was being finalized, but should end up around 8-9 miles or so with the changes made. Tim has done an excellent job of marking, trimming and laying out a challenging race track with several new areas of the property incorporated throughout. Everyone should feel a sense of accomplishment at all levels here.

This property is hard-packed and rocky with several elevation changes. There are varying degrees of difficulty on the hills – some are fairly easy and some are a bit of a challenge with rocks littered throughout. A decision maker has been added, so make sure you check out both ways of getting from point A to point B in that area then pick your poison based on your skill-set.

You will finish the lap with some sweeping, fast stuff through the mesquite flats and a couple s-turns in the flat track field to get back over to the chute and out on your next lap. Thankfully, Tim has eliminated some of the flats and all but a little of the open field racing for us.

The 1 mile long peewee track is fast, flat and flowing. This will be an easy track for all of the kids and spectating will be good. The track winds around the mesquite trees close to camp.

All in all – great property with a challenging course layout!

PLEASE BAG YOUR TRASH AND TAKE IT WITH YOU.

NO Campfires - This means no open flames on the ground, in a barrel, above the ground, etc. You may BBQ on a standard grill, but you need to watch it closely and extinguish it fully after you are done cooking. Propane heaters are fine. Anyone found to be violating this will be escorted from the property.

Big thanks to Jennifer Webb, Haydn Franklin, Todd Slavik & Tyler Chidester for riding in the video!

Note: The hill climb at the end of the video will not be in the course. It was really gnarly!

Directions

There are several ways to get to Jacksboro that work just fine. 35 to 380 works from Dallas… 114 to Bridgeport to 380 from the mid-cities... 287 or 199 from Fort Worth… When you get to Jacksboro you will take 281N through town and go around the bend at the Butterfield Depot Motel staying on 281N then head out until you see the sign for Jim King road – it’s a right. It’s a left at the next road and a right on Gresham Lane then straight in to the track. Some of the big rigs will need to get on the pipe somewhat after the cattle guard to get up the hill, but no one will have a problem entering the property.
