TORO Pre-Race Recon
|
|
After 2 TORO races with hills and rocks we head to the Storrie's ranch for something totally different! You can probably count the number of rocks on one hand and there are no hills to be found. This track will be fast and fun! At least most of it will be..... There is about a mile of brand new virgin trail that has been cut for this race that is tight. Definetly put on your bark busters. The endurocross section seems to get more extreme each year. This year the section features an old car that you have to ride over. I believe Brian said it was a Chevy Celebrity many years ago. Clearing the extreme section will be challenging but will reward the racer with a good time gap over taking the long alternate. There are also some small log crossings on the alternates. Most of the track is hard packed with the exception of the trail near the endurocross section. For some reason this area has really deep sand and large berms do develop after a few bikes go through. The motocross track is also incorporated into the course. Not all of the jumps are table tops, so please be carefull your 1st time around the mx track.
The 1 mile peewee track is located on the right side of the road across from the barn. It is mainly hard pack with a few dips into the dry creek bottoms. Should be a fun & fast track for the kids.
Camping is in a flat field just as you enter the gate. Please remember we are all guests on the land so be respectful and clean up your trash and take it with you. NO FIRES. You may cook on a grill, but do NOT leave it unattended and please FULLY extinguish the ambers when you are done.
Spectating should be excellent. The Endurocross section is visible from the camping area and the motocross track is just down the road.
